English Composition

A workshop-style course on the fundamentals of good writing in both prose and poetry. Readings are grouped by the rhetorical patterns they illustrate, and compositions follow the rhetorical examples. Some attention is given to the basics of grammar, spelling, parts of speech, sentence structure and punctuation. Assignments are designed to help the student read discerningly, think logically, and write accurately.
